Sewing Center

In 2024, a small tailoring center was constructed in Andhra Pradesh, India to provide free sewing training to individuals from impoverished backgrounds. At this center, a team will train people for six months and then give them a sewing machine so they may start a home-based sewing business to generate income and support their families. They can also partner with local ready-made clothing companies to supply items such as school bags, blouses, and shirts. These income-generating initiatives aim to reduce poverty in the community. A computer center offering coaching to young people will be opening soon. The goal of these projects is to enable people to live dignified lives within their own communities.

Graduation Report

On February 26, 2025, we held a graduation ceremony for 48 women who completed the tailoring skill course from May through December 2024. We celebrated their achievements and awarded them diplomas. A week after graduation, I returned to the center to personally interview those graduates interested in starting a sewing business at home. It was a pleasure to learn about their personal stories and hear their appreciation for the training provided. We approved and distributed sewing machines to forty women. Unfortunately, I could not meet the other eight women as they were out of town. We are thankful to those who sponsored the sewing machines, enabling these women to embark on income-generating projects. (Manohar James)

My husband is addicted to alcohol. Anything he earns is only sufficient for his bad habits of smoking, drinking, and gambling. He hardly takes care of me and our three young children. When I was considering divorce due to financial difficulties, I heard about the free tailoring course offered at Redeeming Communities Campus. I was thrilled and joined the course quickly despite my husband’s pressure to stay idle at home. I successfully completed the course in six months. I am so grateful to receive a sewing machine to start a business at my house. Thank you, Dr. James, and Redeeming Communities Ministries, for these community projects for people like us! – Mahalaxmi
Due to my spouse’s passing in an accident last year, I am unable to work outside my home as I have two young children with no caretaker available. The tailoring skill course provided at no cost and the sponsored sewing machine have enabled me to start a home-based business. I appreciate this support and opportunity very much. – Durga Devi
